How image KB limits actually work
An upload limit sounds simple until two systems count bytes differently or a quality slider produces an unpredictable file. A reliable workflow measures the finished download rather than guessing from a percentage.

Start with the receiving portal’s exact wording
Readyvio treats 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so a 100 KB ceiling means 100,000 bytes. Some software displays kibibytes, where 1 KiB is 1,024 bytes, while still labelling the value “KB.” That difference can make a borderline file fail.
Targeting a result below the stated maximum gives the receiving system room to count differently. There is usually no benefit in making a file exactly equal to the limit.
Compression changes more than one thing
JPEG size depends on image detail, noise, dimensions, and encoder settings. Two photographs with the same width and height can differ greatly in bytes. Lowering quality removes detail; reducing dimensions removes pixels. Readyvio searches quality first and reduces dimensions only when required by a tight ceiling.
Small text, faces, signatures, and document edges deserve a visual check after compression. A technically valid byte count does not prove that the image is readable or acceptable.
A dependable maximum-KB workflow
Keep the original file unchanged, make one constrained copy, and verify both the reported byte count and the visible result.
- Copy the exact maximum and accepted format from the destination’s current instructions.
- Use the flexible compressor or the matching 50, 100, or 200 KB preset.
- Confirm the result says the final byte size was verified.
- Open the download and inspect important detail at normal viewing size.
- If quality is too low, check whether the destination permits a larger limit or different dimensions.
